U.S. Women’s Soccer Team wins record 5th Olympic gold, defeats Brazil 1-0 in final

KATHMANDU: The U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team has claimed the gold medal in the Paris Olympics, defeating Brazil 1-0 in the final.

This victory makes the U.S. the first team to win five Olympic gold medals in women’s soccer.

Mallory Swanson scored the decisive goal in the 57th minute during the match at Parc des Princes.

Her goal secured the victory for the American team.

The U.S. had previously won gold in 1996, 2004, 2008, and 2012.

Brazil had to settle for silver this time.

In the semifinals, Brazil defeated Spain 4-2 to reach the final, while the U.S. beat Germany 1-0 to secure their spot in the final.
