Chudamani Sharma sent back to Dillibazaar Prison, fails to pay Rs 4.10 billion

KATHMANDU: Former Secretary Chudamani Sharma, convicted in a corruption case, has been sent to Dillibazaar Prison.

Sharma, who appeared at the Supreme Court on Aug 7 to file an appeal, was incarcerated as he failed to pay the restitution amount.

Rom Bahadur Mahat, the jailer (Under Secretary) of Dillibazaar Prison, confirmed that Sharma has been in the prison since Wednesday.

The Special Court has stipulated that if Sharma pays the restitution amount of Rs 4.10 billion, he will be allowed to remain out of custody during the trial.

If the restitution amount is not paid, Sharma will have to remain in custody until the Supreme Court delivers a final verdict on the case.
