KATHMANDU: The play Mirror is staged at Mandala Theatre in Thapagaun.
The performance began on Aug 2 and will run until Aug 11.
Mirror can be seen as a reflection of contemporary society, where tradition meets modernity, and dreams collide with reality.
The play presents the dramatic story of a father and son. The father, Rabin, is a former military officer who hopes his son, Swapna, will follow a stable career as a British soldier.
However, Swapna dreams of pursuing a career in rap and hip-hop music—a dream he is talented enough to achieve. Mirror is a narrative of these conflicting dreams and expectations.
The cast includes Vishal Budhathoki, Swarnim Chamling, Diggaj Khatri, Prashamsa Siwakoti, Vicky Khadka, Manish Pudasaini, and Hemanta Khadka. The play is written by Aazadan Bhatri and directed by Sushan Basnet.
Mirror marks Basnet’s directorial debut. He believes this production could be the first in the history of Nepali theatre to introduce the hip-hop genre.
