KATHMANDU: Chief Minister (CM) Bahadur Singh Lama Chief Minister of Bagmati State Assembly has garnered a vote of confidence. CM Lama secured the vote of confidence from the Bagmati State Assembly meeting on Tuesday.

With support from Nepali Congress and CPN (Unified Socialist), CM Lama, appointed with their backing, received 64 votes, comprising 37 from Nepali Congress (NC) and 27 from CPN (Unified Socialist).

The opposition garnered 35 votes. Major opposition parties such as CPN (Maoist Centre), CPN (Unified Socialist), and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) voted against the confidence motion, while Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) remained neutral.

Two members of our Hamro Nepali Party (HNP) were absent from the meeting. According to constitutional provisions, CM Lama, appointed last Tuesday, must secure a vote of confidence within 30 days from the Assembly.

In the 110-member Bagmati State Assembly, the government needs support from at least 56 legislators to achieve a majority.
