Tourist arrivals surge at CNP during 2023/24 FY
A total of 306,837 tourists visited the park in the last fiscal year, up from 299,412 in the previous fiscal year.
KATHMANDU: Tourist arrivals at Chitwan National Park (CNP) saw an increase in the fiscal year 2023/24 compared to 2022/23.
A total of 306,837 tourists visited the park in the last fiscal year, up from 299,412 in the previous fiscal year.
According to Ganesh Prasad Tiwari, the park’s information officer, 274,299 tourists entered via the Sauraha area in fiscal year 2023/24, compared to 271,731 in fiscal year 2022/23.
Additionally, 27,956 tourists arrived via Bharatpur Metropolitan City in fiscal year 2023/24, a rise from 23,257 in fiscal year 2022/23.
Bishwa Subedi, a tourism expert from Bharatpur Metropolitan City, attributed the increase to the promotion of Chitwan Visit Year on national and international platforms. Events such as religious programs, the Devghatdham festival, jungle safari marts, and marathons were organized to attract foreign tourists.
Diyalo Bangla has also been opened to the public during the Chitwan Visit Year, emerging as a new tourism hotspot.
