Newly built Skywalk Tower at Bhedetar opens for visitors
The tower has been built at Charles Point in Bhedetar, the confluence of Dhankuta's Sangurigarhi Rural Municipality-4 and Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City-6.
KATHMANDU: Bhedetar, a picturesque hill station in eastern Nepal, has seen a surge in visitor numbers following recent infrastructure upgrades and promotional efforts.
Known for its stunning panoramic views of the Himalayas and lush greenery, Bhedetar has long been a favorite among domestic tourists seeking respite from urban life.
Bhedetar is 1,420 meters high from the sea level.
It is actually on the border line of Sunsari and Dhankuta districts.
During the summer season, Bhedetar attracts numerous tourists from the Terai region. Located amidst the Chure hills, this area provides breathtaking vistas of the Himalayas, nearby hills, and the expansive Terai plains.
According to the Hotel Association, Bhedetar welcomes more than 2,000 tourists daily, hailing from various parts of eastern India and Nepal, who come to enjoy its scenic beauty.
Currently, Bhedetar boasts a thriving hospitality industry with over 200 hotels, ranging from cozy lodges to larger accommodations, catering to the diverse needs of its visitors.
In the same view of point the newly inaugurated Skywalk Tower at Bhedetar promises to elevate regional tourism, spanning 11 ropani within Sangurigarhi Rural Municipality Ward No. 6 of Dhankuta.
The tower has been built at Charles Point in Bhedetar, the confluence of Dhankuta’s Sangurigarhi Rural Municipality-4 and Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City-6.
Approximately 43 years ago, during the construction of the Dharan-Dhankuta Highway with British assistance, Prince Charles ascended Shailung Hill and took in the views of the Dharan and Dhankuta markets.
In honor of this historical visit, Wonders Amusement Parks and Attractions Pvt Ltd, in collaboration with the Koshi State Development Authority, Sangurigarhi Rural Municipality, and Dharan Sub-metropolitan City, has constructed an 18.5-meter-high skywalk tower on the same hill.
Nestled in the scenic Koshi State, Bhedetar already captivates tourists with its natural beauty.
Bhedetar, a prominent tourist destination in the east, is located 16 km from Dharan and 52 km from Biratnagar.
Costing Rs 200 million, the tower was developed by Wonders Amusement Parks and Attractions Pvt. Ltd. It features thrilling adventure sports like bungee jumping, ziplining, and freefall, poised to attract adventure seekers.
This marks the company’s second skywalk following the success of the Kamaladi tower in Kathmandu.
Koshi State aims to celebrate the upcoming year 2082 in the lunar calendar as a Tourism Year, with the skywalk expected to play a pivotal role, as expressed by the Chief Minister during the inauguration ceremony.
Accompanying him were the Mayor of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City, Harka Sampang, and the Chair of Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality, Jitendra Rumdali Rai. Situated at the junction of Sunsari and Dhankuta districts, the 41-meter-long, two-meter-wide skywalk stands out as a cantilever tower.
Capable of hosting 200 visitors simultaneously, the skywalk has already delighted nearly one thousand tourists, both local and international, who have relished strolling across its glass bridge, soaking in panoramic views of Dharan and beyond.
A new skywalk graces the popular tourist destination of Bhedetar, a joint initiative by Koshi State Investment Authority, Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality, and Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City, crafted by Wonders Amusement Park and Attractions Pvt Ltd at a cost of 20 crores rupees.
Located at the border of Dhankuta and Sunsari districts, Bhedetar remains a cherished spot for visitors near and far. The 50-meter-long tower accommodates up to 200 individuals at once, soaring to a height of 100 meters, with a four-meter width and a ten-meter circumference.
Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki officially inaugurated the skywalk, a project initiated four years ago under the leadership of former Chief Minister Sher Dhan Rai.
