KATHMANDU: Koshi Maoist ministers have submitted resignation letters to Chief Minister Hikmat Karki.

Ganesh Upadhyay, Minister of Physical Infrastructure; Narayan Magar, Minister of Forests, Environment, and Tourism; Rajendra Karki, Minister of Health; and Bandana Jha, State Minister for Forests, Environment, and Tourism were among those who resigned.

The government was formed under the leadership of Nepali Congress parliamentary party leader Hikmat Karki on May 9.

In that government, Maoists had appointed Ganesh Upadhyay as Minister of Physical Infrastructure, Narayan Magar as Minister of Forests, Environment, and Tourism, Rajendra Karki as Minister of Health, and Bandana Jha as State Minister for Forests, Environment, and Tourism.

Despite the resignations, the Maoists have not withdrawn their support from the government.

Now, Nepali Congress will participate in the government under the leadership of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre).

Discussions between Congress and Maoists regarding power sharing will commence in Kathmandu starting from Friday.
