Pilot Shakya’s condition improving: KMC

According to a statement issued by Kathmandu Medical College (KMC) Hospital, his health condition has been progressing positively since the third day of treatment, as reported on Friday.

KATHMANDU: Captain Manish Ratna Shakya, who was injured in the Saurya Airlines plane accident at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu on July 24, has shown improvement in his health condition.

According to a statement issued by Kathmandu Medical College (KMC) Hospital, his health condition has been progressing positively since the third day of treatment, as reported on Friday.

Captain Shakya was undergoing treatment at KMC Hospital following the aforementioned accident.

An accident occurred during the takeoff of a Saurya Airlines flight from Tribhuvan International Airport.

The aircraft involved was a Saurya Airlines’ 9N-AME/CRJ-200, which crashed shortly after departing from runway 02 towards the eastern end near runway 20.

The plane, carrying 19 passengers who were all airline staff and technicians, skidded off the runway and caught fire.

The victims of the plane crash include Amitaman Maharjan, Sagar Acharya, Dilip Burma, Manuraj Sharma, Ashwin Niraula, Sudip Lal Joshi, Sarvesh Marasaini, Shyam Vindukar, Navaraj Ale, Rajaram Acharya, Adhiraj Sharma, Prija Khatiwada, Uddhav Puri, Yagya Prasad Paudel, Santosh Mahato, Punyarathna Shahi, and Aref Reda.

Reda Yamanie was a Yemeni citizen.

Similarly, the pilot, Manish Ratna Shakya, survived the crash and is currently undergoing treatment at Kathmandu Medical College (KMC).

The aircraft involved in the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) crash during takeoff was determined to have been manufactured 21 years and 4 months ago.

This specific aircraft, a Bombardier CRJ-200 with a seating capacity of 50 passengers, was the sixth of its kind acquired by Nepal.

According to information from planesspotters.com, this Bombardier CRJ-200 was constructed by the Canadian company Bombardier in April 2003.
