KATHMANDU: President of Nepali Congress and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has expressed deep sorrow over the plane crash of Saurya Airlines.

On behalf of President Deuba, Chief Secretary of Congress Central Office Krishna Prasad Paudel issued a condolence statement today and expressed his grief over the plane crash of Saurya Airlines.

Eighteen employees and technical passengers of Saurya Airlines died and the pilot was seriously injured when the plane of ‘9N- AME ‘ of Saurya Airlines crashed inside the airport premises.

President Deuba paid emotional tributes to those who died in the accident and wished for the eternal peace of the departed souls and expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family members and the party.

The incident took place at 11:11 am.

The plane was about to set off for Pokhara for a regular technical test.

The aircraft with 19 people on board, including the crew members, skidded off the runway and fell into a ditch.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has confirmed that 18 people on board the aircraft have been killed in the accident.

The flight captain Manish Ratna Shakya who was rescued is currently receiving treatment at KMC Hospital at Sinamangal.
