KATHMANDU: Chetan Narayan Acharya, the parliamentary party deputy leader of the Nepali Congress, has been appointed as the Chief Minister of Lumbini State with the support of the Nepali Congress and CPN (UML).

He took the oath of office and secrecy before State Chief Amik Sherchan.

Alongside CM Acharya, four MPs from each party also took the oath as non-divisional ministers.

Despite discussions over ministry allocation and portfolio distribution, two ministries in Lumbini State remain reserved for smaller parties, out of a total of twelve ministries.

Notably, Badshah Kurmi, a central figure in the controversial Nirmala Kurmi death and property dispute case, has also entered the cabinet.

Kurmi, nominated by the Nepali Congress, has been assigned to the Home Ministry.

Kurmi had previously faced opposition when being considered as a candidate for the State Assembly.

However, he successfully contested from Constituency No. 3 (2) in Banke under the Congress-Maoist alliance.
