Founder of Shangri-La Hotel, Shyam Bahadur Pandey, passes away

KATHMANDU: Shyam Bahadur Pandey, founder of Shangri-La Hotel in Lazimpat and senior tourism businessman, has passed away.
He was the former president of Hotel Association Nepal and was undergoing treatment at Grande International Hospital where he breathed his last today, as confirmed by family sources.
Hotel Association Nepal has expressed profound sorrow over Pandey’s demise, highlighting his pivotal role in advancing Nepali tourism.
They have extended heartfelt condolences to the Pandey family and acknowledged his deep contributions to the country’s tourism development.
Pandey, who transitioned from civil service to hotel business, was renowned for his international-standard hotels and resorts, contributing significantly to the promotion of tourism in Nepal.
He had been decorated with national and international awards and honors during his illustrious career.
