Accounts officer of BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital held for bribery

KATHMANDU: Amrita Koirala, an Accounts Officer at VP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital in Bharatpur, was apprehended by the Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission team for accepting a bribe.

The authorities conducted the arrest in Ward No. 7 of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, at Balaz Restaurant on Kathar Chowk, earlier today.

According to Govinda Prasad Gautam, the Information Officer of the Commission in Hetauda, Koirala was caught with Rs 150,000 in cash and a Rs 450,000 cheque.

Reportedly, Koirala was intercepted while accepting a bribe from a pharmaceutical company.

It is alleged that Koirala was in the process of accepting the bribe during a transaction related to the purchase of medicines for the hospital.
