Nepal women’s volleyball team faces defeat against Russia in friendly opener

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s women’s national volleyball team suffered a defeat in their first friendly match against the Russian team, held on Sunday at the Tripureshwor-based National Sports Council (NSC) covered hall.

The Nepali team lost in straight sets with a score of 3-0.

Russia clinched the first set with a score of 25-17.

Nepal faced challenges in the subsequent two sets, losing 25-19 and 25-15 respectively.

This match served as part of Nepal’s preparations for the upcoming Kavre National League and a friendly exchange with Russia.

The Cava National League is set to commence from Aug 1 at the NSC covered hall, with Nepal, India, Iran, Sri Lanka, and Maldives participating.

Nepal is scheduled to play their second match against Russia on Monday.
