Singer Ravi Oad acquitted of rape charges against his wife

KATHMANDU: Singer Ravi Oad, who was arrested on charges of raping his own wife, has been acquitted by the court.

The Kanchanpur District Court, under the bench of Judge Chanakmani Aryal, cleared Oad of the charges, stating that the claims against him were not substantiated.

Oad’s wife had filed a complaint with the police on March 20, accusing him of marital rape and unnatural intercourse.

Following the complaint, Oad surrendered to the police on May 9.

He had been fighting the case from outside jail after posting a bail of Rs 500,000.
