KATHMANDU: Newly appointed Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has decided to form a task force to study the incident of the disappearance of two passenger buses in Trishuli river after being washed away by a landslide in Chitwan.

After assuming office today, newly appointed Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has decided to form a task force to study the incident where two passenger buses were swept away by a landslide into the Trishuli River in Chitwan.

The task force, led by Joint Secretary Chhabi Rijal, includes representatives from the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Nepal Police, and the Armed Police Force.

The task force is tasked with investigating the causes of the incident and providing recommendations on measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.

Additionally, the task force will study the provision of relief to the families of the passengers on the buses.

According to Home Ministry spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, the task force has been given a mandate to submit its report within 10 days.

Minister Lekhak has also approved the ‘Fourth Crime Investigation and Control Plan (2081/82 to 2083/084)’ today.
