KATHMANDU: Newly-appointed Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has pledged to work for the rule of law, law and order, and crime control.

Assuming the office in Singha Durbar today, Minister Lekhak said so while expecting full support from the security bodies and the administration of the Home Ministry.

“Let’s work together united. I will discharge my duty with integrity by being honest,” he pledged.

Minister Lekhak also urged the media to provide feedback after a thorough observation of the ministry’s performance.

On the occasion, he stated that the incumbent government was formed to maintain good governance in the country by ensuring political stability.

The government will remain firm on revitalizing the country’s economy and further strengthening the constitution, Home Minister Lekhak said.

Likewise, Minister Lekhak formed a task force to study the incident of two buses that were swept by the Trishuli River on Friday.

Ministry’s Joint Secretary Chhabi Rijal will lead the panel with the representatives from the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force, Nepal.

Home Ministry’s Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said that the task force is given the tenure of 10 days to offer its recommendation on related aspects including the issue of providing relief to the families of the passengers of the two buses.
