KATHMANDU: A landslide swept away two passenger buses on the Muglin-Narayangadh road section of Chitwan into the Trishuli River.

The incident occurred at around 3:30 AM at Simtal in Bharatpur Metropolitan City Ward No. 29.

The landslide, which involved a mixture of mud and debris, carried away an Angel Deluxe bus with registration number Bagmati State 1516, traveling from Birgunj to Kathmandu, and a Ganapati Deluxe bus traveling from Kathmandu to Gaur.

Initial investigations reveal that approximately 65 passengers were on board the two buses combined.

Three passengers from the Ganapati Deluxe bus managed to save themselves by jumping out.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has expressed his sorrow over the incident and has directed authorities to intensify search and rescue operations.

Security personnel, including the Armed Police Force, are actively engaged in the search and rescue efforts in the Simtal area of the Narayangadh-Muglin road section.
