KATHMANDU: Cooperative victims demand investigation against Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.

Cooperative victims have demanded an investigation into Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane over misuse of cooperative savings amounting to NPR 1 billion invested in Sahara Multipurpose Cooperative, as revealed during a special parliamentary committee inquiry.

They emphasized that despite Lamichhane’s role as a managing director of Sahara Multipurpose Cooperative Private Limited, cooperative victims insisted on an investigation into his involvement in alleged misappropriation contrary to cooperative policies and laws.

During the committee’s deliberation, cooperative victim Shaligram Duwadi disclosed that various amounts totaling NPR 510 million were invested in Sahara Multipurpose Cooperative, among others.

He questioned why Chitwan Police had stopped investigating Sahara Multipurpose Cooperative after hearing the name of Sahara Multipurpose Cooperative.

He claimed that although Sahara Multipurpose Cooperative could open up to NPR 250 million, Sahara Cooperative had taken more than NPR 1 billion to misuse.

He demanded an investigation into those who would immediately return the savings of the savings depositors.

He claimed that Sahara had transferred NPR 1 billion to Sahara Cooperative to open the media.

He requested the committee to take strict action against the victims who failed to maintain resolve Sahara victims’ properties.
