KATHMANDU: The UML ministers have resigned from the Bagmati state government, citing the recent shift in power dynamics in central politics.

They collectively submitted their resignations to Chief Minister Shalikram Jamkattel.

Last year, on the 17th of Chaitra (March 30), the UML, which had joined the Jamkattel-led government with the Maoist Center for the second time, exited the Bagmati state government following the formation of a new alliance at the national level, leaving them in the minority.

The five ministers who have tendered their resignations from the UML include Jagannath Thapaliya from the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Prakash Shrestha from the Ministry of Industry, Commercial Lands, and Administration, Keshav Pokharel from the Ministry of Forests and Environment, Rameshwar Shrestha from the Ministry of Health, and Ekalal Shrestha from the Ministry of Water Resources, Energy, and Drinking Water.
