KATHMANDU: The low-pressure system is expected to gradually move southward starting today, leading to a decrease in monsoon activity and rainfall in Nepal, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

However, the department predicts that for a few days, most areas of Koshi and Gandaki States will experience light to moderate rainfall, with a few places potentially seeing heavy rain.

Similarly, some areas in Madhesh, Bagmati, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim States are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall.

On Monday morning, light to moderate rain was reported in a few places in Bagmati and Sudurpashchim States, as well as one or two locations in Gandaki and Karnali States.

Sudurpashchim State remains completely overcast.

During the day and evening, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is expected in a few places across all States.

There is a possibility of heavy rain in one or two locations in Koshi, Madhesh, Gandaki, and Lumbini States.

On Tuesday, light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is also forecasted for a few places in all States.

Heavy rain is possible in one or two locations in Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim States.

Due to the rainfall, the risk of landslides, soil erosion, and debris flow remains high.

The department has urged necessary precautions and preparedness to mitigate these risks.
