KATHMANDU: The flow of water in the Saptakoshi River has crossed the danger mark, prompting a high alert.

The water level in the river has been increasing since Sunday morning.

Ramchandra Tiwari, Chief District Officer of Sunsari, where all 56 sluice gates have been opened, said that although the situation is currently under control, there is an anticipation that the water level in the Koshi River could rise further.

‘Even though the situation is currently normal, if the water level exceeds 350,000 cusecs, we will also discuss with the Indian side and have opened 56 gates as a precaution,’ he said.

He added, ‘The situation may still worsen. The flow of water in the Koshi River is at a high alert. We urge all citizens living in the riverbank areas since yesterday to remain cautious. The administration is on high alert in all respects. Everyone must be prepared.'”
