England advances to Euro Cup semi-finals beating Switzerland

KATHMANDU: England has advanced to the semi-finals of the ongoing Euro Cup by defeating Switzerland 5-3 in a penalty shootout in the quarter-finals.

Both teams scored one goal each in the regular 90 minutes, leading to a 30-minute extra time period.

As no goals were scored in the extra time, the match was decided by a penalty shootout.

In the shootout, Switzerland’s player Manuel Akanji missed a penalty.

In the regular 90 minutes, Breel Embolo gave Switzerland an early lead with a goal in the 75th minute.

However, Bukayo Saka equalized for England in the 80th minute.

England will now face the Netherlands in the semi-finals.

With this loss, Switzerland has been eliminated from the Euro Cup.
