Weather: Heavy rain, flood-landslide warning across the country today

KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecast Division has reported that the monsoon winds are currently affecting the entire country.

According to the division, the monsoon trough is positioned near its average location in the east and north of its average location in the west, resulting in heavy rainfall in many parts of the country.

At present, there is a general to complete overcast across the country.

Light to moderate rainfall is occurring in Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini, among other States, with heavy rainfall in some areas.

During the day, the weather will remain generally to completely cloudy nationwide.

There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in many places across all States.

A few locations may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall. There is a likelihood of very heavy rain in one or two places in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim States

At night, the weather will remain generally to completely cloudy throughout the country. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in some places in Koshi and Madhesh States, and in many places in the remaining States.

A few places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim States, and one or two places in Madhesh State, may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall.

Due to the possibility of heavy rainfall, the division has requested necessary precautions to avoid risks or damages from potential disasters such as floods, landslides, and soil erosion.

This could impact daily life, agriculture, health, tourism, mountaineering, road, and air transport in these areas.
