KATHMANDU: The Labour Party, led by Keir Starmer, has achieved a historic victory returning to power in the UK after 14 years.

With 650 seats in the lower house of the British Parliament, 326 seats are required for a majority.

Labour has secured 380 seats in this election.

Similarly, under the leadership of Rishi Sunak, the Conservative Party managed to win only 92 seats.

Labour’s electoral triumph is comparable to the party’s 1997 victory under Tony Blair’s leadership when they secured 419 seats.

With the certainty of forming a government, Keir Starmer is poised to become the new Prime Minister.

However, there are still over a hundred seats left to be decided.

Following the results, current Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has accepted defeat and apologized, hinting at resigning from his position after the Conservative Party’s disappointing loss.
