Leverkusen’s season opener against Mönchengladbach confirmed

KATHMANDU: German champions Bayer Leverkusen will begin their title defense by playing against local rivals Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga opener.

The match between the champions and Mönchengladbach is scheduled for August 23.

Last season, Leverkusen won the Bundesliga title without losing a single game.

According to the schedule released by the league on Thursday, Bayern Munich will kick off their league season against Wolfsburg, while Champions League runners-up Borussia Dortmund will play against Eintracht Frankfurt.

These matches are set for August 24 or 25, with exact dates and times yet to be confirmed.

The first round of the German Cup will start on August 16, and the following day, Leverkusen and Stuttgart will compete in the Super Cup.
