KATHMANDU: Employees of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development staged another sit-in at the ministry today.

On Thursday, officers of the ministry staged a sit-in at the entrance gate.

Despite being integrated into the federal system through the Adjustment Ordinance Act of 2018, they protested symbolically, stating that their career development had been stymied.

They claimed the Public Service Commission examinations had not been held regularly, and there had been no organizational and management ONM assessments.

Madhav Paudel, an agricultural officer at the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, said that technical employees integrated into the ministry were protesting due to the lack of career advancement opportunities.

They are demanding the establishment of career advancement positions.

Paudel mentioned that even after six years, there had been no career development, regular Public Service Commission examinations, or ONM assessments, which prompted the sit-in.

He further stated that although the protest began on June 28, the sit-in commenced on June 28.

The employees were compelled to protest because regular Public Service Commission examinations had not been conducted, and their career development had been halted.

Paudel also mentioned that they had approached the court for a defamation case after the court’s mandamus order was not implemented.
