KATHMANDU: Phanindra Devkota, a member of the Gandaki State Assembly, is set to become a minister again after the Supreme Court issued an interim order preventing the Maoist Centre from taking action against him.

Returning to parliament after the court’s directive, he is preparing to take oath at the Tourism Board office in Pokhara at 10:30 AM.

The State chief’s office has arranged for Devkota to take oath of office and secrecy.

State Chief Diliraj Bhatta will administer the oath.

Following his return to parliamentary activities, Devkota will resume his responsibilities at the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Drinking Water, which he previously managed.

Phanindra, who had become a minister again after giving a vote of confidence to Chief Minister Suren Raj Pandey on June 10, has been expelled from the party.

After being informed that party chair Krishna Prasad Dhital had resigned, Devkota had stepped down.

However, Nepal’s Supreme Court had filed a writ on June 20 against the action taken by the Maoist Centre, and Devkota, a member of the Nepal Samajwadi Party, filed a petition.
