KATHMANDU: The National Examination Board, Examination Control Office, has announced the results of the Secondary Education Examination (SEE). Among the total students who appeared for the examination, only 47.86 percent have passed.

A total of 186 students scored a 4.0 GPA.

According to the results published by the office, out of the 444,785 students who participated in the examination, only 242,092 students will be eligible to enroll in grade 11. This means that 52.14 percent of the examinees received a non-graded (NG) status.

This year, the board published the results following the Letter Grading Guidelines, 2078, which stipulate separate evaluations for theoretical and internal assessments. Students are required to score a minimum of 35 percent in each subject in the theoretical exams.

For subjects with a theoretical exam worth 75 marks, students must score at least 26.25 marks, and in the internal assessment worth 25 marks, they must score 40 percent, or 10 marks. The results were published by converting the marks obtained in theoretical and internal assessments into grades as per the letter grading guidelines.

If students fail to score 26.25 marks (35 percent) in the theoretical exam out of 75 marks, their certificate will indicate NG (non-graded). They will not be eligible to enroll in grade 11 without taking a grade improvement exam.

Moreover, if a student fails to score 10 marks in the internal assessment and 26.25 marks in the theoretical exam in any subject, they will not receive the main certificate. However, they will be allowed to take grade improvement exams in up to two subjects.

Students who fail to score the minimum 35 percent marks in more than two subjects, and those who fail to secure 35 percent marks even after taking the grade improvement exams, will have to retake the exam for the NG subjects the following year.

The examination was held from Chaitra 15 to Chaitra 27.
