Special Parliamentary Committee requests documents from 9 Cooperatives Over Savings misuse (video)

KATHMANDU: On Tuesday, the Special Committee of the Parliament has decided to request documents from nine cooperative institutions listed under Schedule 2 regarding misuse of savings deposits.

Following the meeting held in Singha Durbar, Committee Chair Surya Bahadur Thapa informed that the committee has requested documents from the following cooperatives listed in Schedule 2: Ideal Yamuna Multipurpose Cooperative, Image Savings and Credit Cooperative, Sahara Savings and Credit Cooperative, Samanata Savings and Credit Cooperative, Sano Paila Savings and Credit Cooperative, Suprim Savings and Credit Cooperative, Suryadarshan Savings and Credit Cooperative, Sumeru Savings and Credit Cooperative, and Swarnalakshmi Savings and Credit Cooperative.

He further stated that the committee has demanded details such as the latest general assembly reports, audit inspection reports, executive committee details, audit supervision committee and its report, and other necessary financial information.

Additionally, the committee has decided to request documents from nine cooperatives, including six more along with the above, regarding the flow of funds through Gorkha Media Network.

The committee has focused its attention on the financial situation based on the flow of funds from various cooperatives to Gorkha Media Network Pvt. Ltd.

They noted that the committee’s efforts have been progressing according to the directive.

He mentioned that the committee will gather factual evidence in the cooperative fraud case and ensure no one escapes justice.

They are also exploring the roles of known figures in the cooperative sector, including former Minister and immediate past Chair of Cooperative Development Board Deepak Prakash Baskota and former Chair of Cooperative Association Keshav Prasad Badal.
