KATHMANDU: Minister of Labour, Employment, and Social Security, Dol Prasad Aryal, emphasized the necessity of visiting workplaces to address complaints and boost employee morale.

During a monitoring visit at the Labour Department in Tahachal on Wednesday, Minister Aryal made these remarks while assessing the work being done by the department and the condition of its employees.

He stated that instead of merely issuing directives from the ministry, it is crucial for ministers to conduct field studies and inspections to motivate employees.

Aryal highlighted that after implementing the one-hour labor approval process, he visited the workplace to monitor how the department is serving its clients.

He noted a decrease in the number of people coming to the department for labor approval, attributing this to the new online labor approval system.

“We have implemented the one-hour labor approval process after considerable effort. The purpose of the visit was to monitor its effective implementation. There has been a noticeable decline in the number of people coming to the Labour Department for approval. The department’s space for labor approval is well-organized. Employees are working in a very calm environment. There has been an improvement in the services provided by the Labour Department. As a result, service seekers no longer need to repeatedly visit the department and are not being exploited. Ministers should not just sit in their offices giving directives; it is important to understand the condition of employees at the workplace and to encourage them,” he said.

He also mentioned that with the improvements in the services provided by the Labour Department, the need for service seekers to frequent the department has significantly reduced.
