Two children killed in Kaski landslide, 4 injured as 3 homes washed away in Lamjung
Heavy rains lead to landslides and floods, claiming lives and displacing families in several regions, prompting urgent rescue operations.

KATHMANDU: The monsoon’s active phase across the country has heightened the risk of floods, landslides, and inundation, resulting in human casualties in the Gandaki region.
In Kaski, a landslide triggered by heavy rainfall since Tuesday has claimed two lives. The victims have been identified as 13-year-old Aayushma Ranabhat from Madi Rural Municipality and 3-year-old Anmol Sunar from Pokhara Metropolitan City.
According to the District Police Office, Ayushma Ranabhat died when a landslide struck their house around 1:45 AM while she was sleeping with her grandmother, 70-year-old Lalmaya Banjari. Although Lalmaya Banjari was rescued unhurt, Aayushma did not survive, as reported by the District Police Office in Kaski.
In another incident, a landslide buried the house of 31-year-old Hari Sunar in Arupata, Pokhara-27, resulting in the death of his 3-year-old son, Anmol Sunar. Hari Sunar’s wife, 27-year-old Ritu Sunar, sustained injuries and has been sent to Gandaki Medical College for further treatment, according to the police.
Meanwhile, in Lamjung’s Kwholasothar Rural Municipality-3, Bagum, a landslide swept away a house, leaving four family members missing.
The missing individuals have been identified as Rudraman Gurung, his daughter-in-law Panchakumari Gurung, and Panchakumari’s two daughters, Iccha and Namrata, informed ward member Binaprasad Ghale. Search operations for the missing persons are currently underway, with more details awaited.
Additionally, a landslide injured two people in Chiti Syaut, Besisahar Municipality-11, Lamjung. The injured have been taken to the district hospital in Lamjung for treatment.
The Besisahar-Manang road has also been obstructed due to the landslide.
