KATHMANDU: The Nilbarahi Jungle, located in Bode, Bhaktapur, has recently become a popular destination for many.
This lush forest serves as a habitat for monkeys, birds, and various plant species, while providing a tranquil retreat for people.
Filled with tall sal trees, the jungle resonates with the sounds of crows and other birds. People from near and far visit the forest for picnics.
Moreover, individuals of all ages, from the young to the elderly, come here to enjoy the peaceful environment and cool air.
Among these visitors is Keshav Basnet, a 65-year-old resident of Saraswatikhel, Bhaktapur, who was found enjoying the solitude with a small radio, listening to music.
He shared that he visits the jungle daily as it is easier to spend the day in its coolness, watching the antics of the monkeys, rather than staying at home where he feels lazy and finds it hard to pass the time.
According to him, there are 3-4 groups of monkeys in the jungle, with their total number being around 600-700.
He mentioned that one particular group is quite mischievous, often grabbing food instead of accepting it when offered by hand.
Around 10 AM, Keshav Basnet was not the only one there; another elderly man arrived to graze his goats.
At that moment, several people were visiting the jungle to experience the refreshing atmosphere.
Monkeys were also seen enjoying themselves, some perched on trees while others slept on the ground.
Indeed, the forest is not just a jungle but a haven for humans, animals, birds, and plants alike.
