KATHMANDU: In the group stage of the Euro Cup 2024, France and the Netherlands have played a draw.

On Friday night, both teams shared the points with a goalless draw in the Leipzig stadium in Germany.

This result leaves both teams with four points each in the standings.

Notably, French star player Kylian Mbappé did not take the field.

Although it was mentioned that he would play with a face shield due to a nose injury sustained in a previous match, he was rested against the Netherlands.

In the 69th minute, Netherlands’ Xavi Simons scored, but the goal was disallowed after a VAR check revealed an offside, denying them the lead. Ultimately, both teams had to settle for a goalless draw.

In another Group D match, Austria defeated Poland 3-1. Austria’s goals were scored by Jenot Turnier, Christoph Baumgartner, and Marko Arnautović.

Poland’s Krzysztof Piątek scored their only goal, which turned out to be a consolation.

Jenot Turnier scored early for Austria in the 9th minute, giving them the initial lead. Poland equalized in the 30th minute through Krzysztof Piątek’s goal.

Christoph Baumgartner put Austria ahead again in the 66th minute, and Marko Arnautović, the Austrian captain, secured their victory with a goal in the 78th minute, making it 3-1.

With this win, Austria now has three points from two matches, placing them in third position. Defeated Poland, on the other hand, has been eliminated from the group stage of the Euro Cup.
