KATHMANDU: A four-point agreement has been reached between the Nepal Petroleum Tanker Drivers Association and the government.

Following a strike over a series of seven demands, which halted the transportation of essential petroleum products, today’s discussions resulted in a four-point agreement.

Consequently, the Nepal Petroleum Tanker Drivers Association has withdrawn all protest programs and resumed the transportation of petroleum products.

In the discussions held this afternoon at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies, it was agreed to form a subcommittee led by the Executive Director of Nepal Oil Corporation. This subcommittee will present a report within 15 days addressing the seven demands and other issues in the sector.

The subcommittee will include representatives from the Ministry of Industry, the Nepal Petroleum Tanker Drivers Association, the Nepal Transport Independent Workers Organization, and the All Nepal Petroleum and Gas Workers Union.

Additionally, there was an agreement that employers would commit to providing salaries and benefits to tanker drivers and their assistants.

Earlier in the day, long lines of vehicles were seen at petrol stations in the Kathmandu Valley due to the shutdown.
