KATHMANDU: A meeting of the special parliamentary investigation committee, formed to probe the embezzlement and misappropriation of cooperative savings, is scheduled to convene.

The meeting is set for 1 PM at the Parliament Building in New Baneshwor.

According to committee member Badri Pandey, today’s meeting will focus on discussing and passing the committee’s procedures.

Prior to this, there are plans to hold discussions with task force members, as informed by Pandey. Once the procedures are approved, the committee plans to proceed with its detailed investigation work.

The committee is chaired by Surya Thapa, a Member of Parliament from the ruling coalition partner CPN-UML. Other members include Ishwari Neupane and Badri Pandey from the Nepali Congress, Sarita Bhusal from the UML, Lekhnath Dahal from the CPN-Maoist, Shishir Khanal from the National Independent Party, and Dhrurva Bahadur Pradhan from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party.

The committee was formed on May 28 following demands from the Nepali Congress for an investigation, alleging the involvement of the Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister in the cooperative fraud case.
