Italy & Spain secure wins in Euro Cup 2024 Group B openers

KATHMANDU: In Group B of Euro Cup 2024, two major teams, Italy and Spain, made spectacular winning starts on Saturday.
Defending champions Italy, despite conceding the fastest goal in the tournament’s history, made a comeback to defeat Albania 2-1 as they began their title defense.
Albania’s Nedim Bajrami stunned Italy by scoring within just 23 seconds.
However, in the 11th minute, Italy’s Alessandro Bastoni equalized.
The match then tilted entirely in Italy’s favor, with Nicolo Barella scoring the winning goal.
Spain, on the other hand, had a more comfortable victory, defeating Croatia 3-0.
All three of Spain’s goals came in the first half.
Alvaro Morata scored the first goal in the 29th minute.
Four minutes later, Fabian Ruiz added a second.
In the second minute of injury time of the first half, Dani Carvajal scored the third goal.
