Mortal remains of Indians dead in Kuwait fire brought home
The deceased included engineers, drivers, supervisors and other professionals.
NEW DELHI: A special Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft carrying the mortal remains of 45 people who died two days ago in a devastating fire in Kuwait landed in the southern state of Kerala on Friday, a state government official confirmed over phone.
The dead bodies of residents of the southern states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka would be off-loaded at the Cochin International Airport, and the rest would be flown to Delhi, the official said.
Adequate arrangements have been made to send the mortal remains to their respective homes, Kerala Law Minister P. Rajeev told media.
“We have arranged a special ambulance for each deceased and a police vehicle has been provided up to the house of the deceased,” added the minister.
Among the deceased were 23 from Kerala, seven from Tamil Nadu, three from Andhra Pradesh, two from Odisha, and one each from Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, West Bengal, Haryana, Punjab, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh.
