KATHMANDU A flood that occurred on Wednesday night in Taplejung swept away bridges in various places across Phaktanglung Rural Municipality.

After four bridges were washed away in different locations, the road connecting Tamor Corridor, linking Phungling to Tapethok-Lellep, has been obstructed.

Local resident Sushan Limbu provided information about bridges washed away in Sisawa Khola, Tawa Khola, and Sisne Khola due to the flood in Phaktanglung Rural Municipality.

The flood swept away both the Bailey bridge and the wooden motor bridge over the Tawa River, with continuous rainfall throughout Wednesday night in the area.

Following the bridge collapses, the central area of Phaktanglung Rural Municipality, including Tapethok, has been cut off due to road obstruction.

This has significantly impacted the daily lives of the residents in the area.

This morning, the flood caused the Tamor River to swell, but the water level has now receded.

The district administration office has deployed police teams to manage the situation in the affected area.

Chief District Officer Ravindra Prasad Acharya has issued a cautionary notice to residents in the lower areas to remain vigilant following the flooding.

He stated that the flow of water in rivers and streams across the district has increased.

Local residents have reported damage to fields and irrigation channels in some areas, including Alainchi Bazar.

Heavy rainfall persisted throughout Wednesday night in most parts of Taplejung, resulting in increased water flow in rivers and streams across the district.

Some areas have reported damage to terraced fields, along with loss of livestock, as informed by locals.
