KATHMANDU: Upendra Yadav has been elected unopposed as the chairperson of the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal.

During the ongoing general convention in Janakpur, Yadav’s unchallenged candidacy led to his unopposed election for the leadership position.

However, the formal announcement is yet to be made.

Elections for other positions within the party are scheduled to take place today. The JSP is conducting elections to appoint its new leadership.

Yadav, who has been actively involved in Madhesh-centric politics for a long time, has held the position of chairperson for 18 years.

Since the formation of the Madhesi Jana Adhikar Forum under Yadav’s leadership, he has consistently maintained his position as chairperson through various party mergers and divisions.
