Two held with 25 grams of gold at TIA

KATHMANDU: Two individuals have been arrested by police with approximately 25 grams of yellow metal, suspected to be gold, which they attempted to smuggle through Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

The arrested individuals are identified as 32-year-old Dilu Subba from Phalelung Rural Municipality-3, Panchthar, and 39-year-old Bhaviman Thokar, originally from Kamalamai Municipality-5, Sindhuli, currently residing in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-32, according to a public news bulletin by Nepal Police.

Subba, who arrived in Kathmandu from Dubai on a Himalayan Airlines flight, was caught with Thokar while attempting to smuggle a gold chain, one iPhone 13 Pro Max, three Redmi mobile phones, two Dell laptops, and one AirPods Pro at TIA yesterday.

The police have handed over both individuals to the TIA Customs Office in Gauchar for further investigation and necessary legal action.
