KATHMANDU: Nepal’s national cricket team’s prominent bowler Sandeep Lamichhane has headed to the West Indies for two matches in the ICC T20 World Cup.

He has announced via social media that he travelled to the West Indies for the matches against South Africa and Bangladesh under the World Cup.

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has also announced this morning that Sandeep will be present at the two matches of the World Cup.

Expressing his gratitude to the Nepali government, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Youth and Sports, National Sports Council, and CAN, Sandeep said, “First of all, I would like to thank the Nepal government, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Youth and Sports, National Sports Council, and CAN. With everyone’s support, I am now committed to the national team for the final two matches in the West Indies. I am determined to fulfill my dream and the dream of all cricket lovers.”

He has requested not to indulge in false propaganda involving his visa and the names of CAN officials.

“Please refrain from spreading all false propaganda regarding my visa and the names of CAN officials, which some people are using to tarnish the image of CAN and Nepali cricket. To all our cricket fans and those who have prayed for me, I will always be grateful for your blessings,” Sandeep wrote.

He also thanked the officials of CAN, mentioning that it was possible to participate in the T20 World Cup by coordinating with the ICC and all related official networks.

Nepal has already played its first match in the ongoing World Cup.
