KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) has postponed the election scheduled for today at the last minute.

Previously, the election for the FNJ’s 27th General Convention was set for today.

FNJ Chair Bipul Pokharel announced the postponement, citing ongoing efforts to resolve disputes over the voter list.

He stated that a new date would be set within the second week of Ashar to conduct the voting.

In a notice issued on Friday, Pokharel said, “The election date set for today, June 8, has been postponed. Due to ongoing efforts to resolve disputes over the voter list, a new date for voting will be decided in consultation with the chairpersons, aiming for the second week of Ashar.”

Following the voter list dispute, various journalist associations affiliated with the FNJ have locked the FNJ’s offices from central to district levels.

Pokharel also urged branch committees, associate organizations, and state committees that have yet to form election committees to do so immediately and inform the election committee.
