KATHMANDU: The government has appointed Dr. Ramesh Prasad Singh as a member of the National Planning Commission.

Minister of Communication and Information Technology and spokesperson of the Nepali government, Rekha Sharma, informed that the decision to appoint Singh to the vacant member position of the National Planning Commission was made during the cabinet meeting held on Jestha 24 (Thursday).

She also disclosed that during the cabinet meeting held on Friday, Narendra Bhandari was appointed as the chairman of the Hetauda Cement Industry and Padam Oli as the Managing Director of Industrial Area Management Limited.

Furthermore, the government has declared 52 different diseases as contagious diseases.

Orders have been issued against strikes in residential services, and decisions have been made to publish such information in the Gazette.

Minister Sharma also mentioned that the government has decided to publish orders issued every six months in the Gazette.

Moreover, the government has provided strategic approval to construct the new headworks of the Melamchi Drinking Water Project and additional structures in suitable areas along the banks of the Melamchi River.

The cabinet meeting also decided to dismiss Tej Bahadur Rai from the position of Executive Director of the International Conference Center.

According to Minister Sharma, the government has also approved the Management and Control of Hazardous Substances Regulations 2081 and the First Amendment to the Senior Citizens’ Relations Regulations 2081.
