4 killed, 3 injured in east Afghanistan’s traffic accident

JALALABAD, Afghanistan: At least four commuters lost their lives and three others sustained injuries in a road accident in east Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province on Thursday night, provincial police spokesman Hafiz Mawlawi Abdul Basir Zabuli said Friday.

The accident occurred in the Khogyani district when two vehicles collided due to overspeeding, causing them to overturn, Zabuli said.

The injured were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Traffic accidents claim hundreds of lives annually in Afghanistan, attributed to poor road conditions, rugged terrains, overloading and overspeeding.
