Rabi’s cooperatives news concealment request leads to father’s arrest: Sambhav Sirohiya (video)
Taking to social media, Sambhav publicly stated that Rabi failed to resolve the cooperative issue.

KATHMANDU: Kantipur Media Group’s Managing Director Sambhav Sirohiya has revealed that Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane has repeatedly urged manage the news about cooperatives.
Lamichhane’s insistence came after Kantipur Media Group continuously reported on the mismanagement of cooperative savings. Sirohiya disclosed that Lamichhane’s requests were aimed at suppressing news for his own benefit.
Following this, Chair Sirohiya was arrested.
Allegations have surfaced against Minister Lamichhane for attempting to manipulate news coverage to hide his involvement in cooperative scams.
Sirohiya said, “Minister Lamichhane repeatedly urged us to withhold news, thinking like a journalist, whether to create or hide news after setting.”
He further revealed that Lamichhane’s requests were numerous, indicating misuse of power to manipulate the media.
Despite management’s independence in news reporting, Lamichhane failed to grasp this concept.
In response to the Home Minister’s request, Kantipur did not comply, leading to Lamichhane’s subsequent attempt to influence news at a lower level.
Moreover, Sirohiya highlighted the reason behind his father Kailash Sirohiya’s arrest, attributing it to the issue of his lineage obtaining citizenship. “Kailash Sirohiya’s daughters were not granted citizenship by birth,” he explained on an audio platform, “but when my nine-year-old brother Kailash was born, our father managed to obtain Nepali citizenship for him. This common occurrence was needlessly sensationalized.”
