Social activist Tara Baral arrested

KATHMANDU: Tara Baral, who claims to be a social activist, has been arrested.
A team from the Cyber Bureau apprehended her on Sunday afternoon in Babar Mahal, Kathmandu.
The Bureau reported that Baral was arrested under Section 47 of the Cyber Law or the Electronic Transactions Act, 2063.
The court has extended her custody by five days for further investigation.
Former AIG Ran Bahadur Chand recently filed a complaint against Baral, accusing her of abetting suicide.
Baral herself had acknowledged the complaint via social media.
Additionally, another woman filed a complaint against Baral, alleging character assassination.
Bureau Chief DIG Navindra Aryal stated that the investigation was initiated based on the victims’ complaints.
The investigation is proceeding under charges related to cybercrime.
