Flight to Dhangadhi halted over Sprite bottle in passenger’s luggage

KATHMANDU: Shree Airlines’ SHC 221 flight to Dhangadhi was diverted back to parking lot from the runway after encountering a peculiar situation.
The flight, carrying 74 passengers, was on its way to Dhangadhi when the onboard indicator signaled a warning, prompting the pilot to halt the journey.
The flight was halted when the onboard indicator signaled a warning upon reaching the runway. Anil Manandhar, spokesperson for Shree Airlines, attributed the reported smoke on the aircraft to a passenger carrying ‘Sprite’ in their luggage, raising questions about how the Sprite made it past security checks and emphasizing the gravity of the situation.
Despite denying any correlation between the Sprite bottle and the indicator alert, Shree Airlines’ spokesperson Anil Manandhar emphasized the seriousness of the issue.
The passengers were later accommodated on an alternative flight to Dhangadhi, arranged by the airline.
TIA authorities have refrained from providing official statements regarding the incident.
