Storm claims life of 107-year-old man

KATHMANDU: Guberi Sah, a 107-year-old resident of Bindabasini Rural Municipality-2, succumbed to Thursday’s rain and storm.

While seated in his home, he was struck and fatally injured by a sharp piece of metal, part of his neighbour’s house brought down by the powerful storm.

Despite efforts to rush him to LS Neuro Hospital in Nautan for treatment, Sah passed away en route, as confirmed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Keshar Neupan of District Police Office Parsa.

Additionally, the storm wreaked havoc elsewhere, causing significant damage and injuries.

In Bahudarmai Rural Municipality-7 Bahuban of Parsa, the collapse of an Ncell tower during the storm left 60-year-old Jogendra Mahato injured.

Fortunately, Mahato received treatment at Narayani Hospital in Birgunj and has since been discharged.

Sadly, the storm also claimed the lives of four goats in the same village.

The destructive force of the storm was evident as it tore off the roof of the police station in Parsa.

Authorities are diligently gathering information on the extent of the storm’s impact across the district.
