KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister and CPN (Unified Socialist) leader Jhala Nath Khanal asserted that there were important achievements in the infrastructure sector following the establishment of republic system in the country.

Observing the photo exhibition organized by the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) on the occasion of the Republic Day-2081 BS, leader Khanal said the exhibition had given a good answer to the naysayers that not much were achieved after the establishment of republic system.

The exhibition themed “Achievements of Republic: Infrastructure for Prosperity” features 95 photos highlighting various infrastructure development projects from the central to local levels which were used by the RSS photo service.

“It is a positive aspect to put on display the photos that illustrate various activities in the field development, construction and transformation especially in the wake of establishment of republic system,” the former PM said, adding, “The expo has clearly explained what kind of development activities have taken place in Nepal in the last 16 years since the establishment of republic system.”

The exhibition displaying photos related to energy, airport, tourism, roads, bridges, reconstructed heritages, postal highway, Mulpani Cricket Ground, Kathmandu-Madhesh Fast Track, Sunkoshi-Marin diversion multi-purpose project, solar panel, 4G towers of telephone, national pride projects and projects of provinces kicked off since May 23.

Executive Chairperson of RSS, Dharmendra Jha, Deputy General Managers Raju Shakya and Somnath Lamichhane and Chief Editor Uttam Silwal among others briefed former PM Khanal about the photos put on display.

On the occasion, leader Khanal inspected RSS’s news reporting and editing departments and took stock about various processes of news collection, processing and dissemination by the only state-owned news agency of the country.

It may be noted that the RSS had organized this kind of photo exhibition for the first time last year marking the Republic Day with the theme ‘Our Culture: Our Heritage’.
