KATHMANDU: The two-day ‘National Women’s Gathering’ of the CPN (UML) has commenced.

Former President Bidhya Devi Bhandari inaugurated the event, which also saw the presence of UML Chair KP Sharma Oli and other party leaders.

The gathering includes participation from female leaders of all 23 affiliated organizations of the party, women representatives elected from the party, female officials from state and district committees, and female representatives elected from student unions through ANNFSU, totaling around 5,000 participants.

The event is organized to commemorate the day of May 30, 2006, when the House of Representatives passed a resolution ensuring citizenship in the mother’s name, guaranteeing one-third female participation at all levels of government, abolishing discriminatory laws, and ending violence against women.

The gathering is coordinated by the UML’s organizational mechanism.
